Big Changes Proposed for MainPlace Mall Site

Applicant, MainPlace Shoppingtown, LLC, is proposing a master plan for the MainPlace Mall site to develop the surrounding parking lots with residential, hotel, commercial and office space.


The MainPlace Mall is a shopping mall located in the City of Santa Ana bordering the City of Orange, Main Street, and I-5.  The mall consists of three stories and has about 200 retail stores and underwent a redevelopment in 2015 on its south-eastern portion of the building which now includes restaurants, entertainment, and fitness center.

The mall is currently surrounded by parking lots and the developer proposes to construct new developments on the parking lots.

According to the City of Santa Ana's website, the developer proposes the following uses that are up to:


  • 1,900 residential units
  • 400 hotel rooms
  • 1,400,000 total square feet of commercial space
  • 750,000 square feet of office space

Renderings show a series of mid-rise buildings with a high rise. 

The surrounding area has seen an increase in residential development with the completed Prisma, Eleven10, proposed residential near Main Street & I-5, 2700 N Main Street, Town & Country Apartments.
